Qwibik News is committed to making its website and digital services accessible to as many people as possible, including people with disabilities.

This accessibility statement applies to the Qwibik News website at news.qwibik.com, including its checkout and donation components.

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines define requirements for improving the accessibility of websites and digital services. They establish three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA and Level AAA.

Qwibik News aims to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.

The website is currently considered partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the website may not yet fully meet all requirements of the accessibility standard.

Our present assessment primarily covers the checkout and donation features provided through the Newspack system. Other parts of the website may not yet have undergone the same level of accessibility assessment.

We also work to support the accessibility requirements applicable under the European Accessibility Act, Directive (EU) 2019/882, and relevant national laws implementing the Directive.

Accessible Features

Qwibik News has implemented accessibility features within its checkout and donation services.

Checkout components are designed to meet WCAG Level AA colour-contrast requirements, including a minimum contrast ratio of:

  • 4.5:1 for normal-sized text
  • 3:1 for large text

Accessibility standards are intended to remain consistent throughout the checkout process.

Newspack Modal Checkout

The modal checkout includes:

  • Keyboard accessibility with a logical tab order
  • Focus management that moves focus into the modal when it opens
  • Focus restoration to the triggering button when the modal closes
  • A focus trap that prevents users from unintentionally navigating outside the open modal
  • A dedicated close button
  • Support for closing the modal using the Escape key
  • Labels and descriptions for form fields
  • Error messages associated with the relevant form controls

Checkout Button Block

The checkout button includes:

  • Keyboard access using the Tab key
  • Button activation using the Enter key
  • Visible focus indicators for keyboard users
  • Support for either modal checkout or standard checkout, depending on the website configuration

Donation Block

The donation interface includes:

  • Keyboard navigation through donation options
  • Tab-key navigation between form elements
  • Arrow-key navigation for available donation tabs and amounts
  • Enter-key activation for submitting a donation
  • Labels intended to identify donation controls to assistive technologies
  • Support for either modal checkout or standard checkout, depending on the website configuration

Standard Checkout Process

The standard checkout process includes:

  • Keyboard navigation with a logical tab sequence
  • Form labels and instructions
  • Error identification and handling
  • A structured heading hierarchy intended to support navigation with assistive technologies

Compatibility with Assistive Technologies

The assessed checkout components have been tested using:

  • Keyboard-only navigation
  • Browser zoom at up to 200%

Additional testing may be conducted as the website and its services develop.

Known Limitations

The current accessibility assessment primarily covers the Newspack checkout and donation components.

Parts of the website outside these assessed components may not yet have been fully evaluated against every WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criterion.

We are continuing to review the website, address identified accessibility issues and improve compatibility with assistive technologies.
